The Pleasant Mount Historical Society membership drive is underway. The annual cost is $10 for individual membership or $25 for family membership. New members are encouraged to join and former members are invited to rejoin. Gift memberships are available and memorial donations are also accepted.


According to Tim Hall, president of the society, “Membership is the lifeblood of this organization. Without it, we would not be able to fulfill the society’s mission to preserve the history and historical artifacts of the area.”


The society’s museum, located at 410 Great Bend Turnpike, Pleasant Mount, is open to the public on the second Thursday of each month from 7 to 8:30 p.m. and the fourth Sunday of each month from 1 to 4 p.m.

Fourth of July

The town of Pleasant Mount’s Fourth of July celebrations date back hundreds of years. The Pleasant Mount Historical Society has participated in the celebration since its inception.

Each year on the Fourth Sunday of September, the Pleasant Mount Historical Society and Costello Monahan Brown American Legion Post 964 honor Damian “Buddy” Caffery with the Buddy Caffery Memorial Golf Tournament. Learn more about the 2010 golf tournament 2010_Golf_Brochure (PDF).


A dear friend and founding member of the Historical Society, Buddy took great pride in his roots here in Pleasant Mount. Many of his photos are featured in the Historical Society display. Buddy was also very proud of his military service and an active member of Post 964 throughout his life. He always had a smile for everyone he greeted and enjoyed playing golf as often as he could. Buddy’s passionate commitment to the Historical Society, his many stories, and his friendship are greatly missed.

Holiday Open House


The Holiday Open House is held each year on the First Saturday in December*. In conjunction with its annual Holiday Open House, the Pleasant Mount Historical Society was instrumental in creating “A Hometown Holiday” celebration in Pleasant Mount in 2009. Community organizations worked together to offer a day full of family-friendly events open to the public.
